OUR SERVICES

Electrical Earthing
Our power networks are installed with electrical earthing to ensure both the correct operation of equipment and the safety of the people at the site. Electrical earthing systems are designed for applications operating at relatively low frequencies, and BFL Projects has driven the use of increasingly sophisticated technology, including specialist software, to determine ground resistivity, improve design and measure system performance. Modern earthing techniques used by BFL Projects meet all the relevant standards. Our electrical earthing systems will capture and disperse electrical current so that the site always remains safe.

Lightning Protection Services
Lightning flashes to structures can be hazardous to people, as well as to the structures themselves, their contents and installations. The possible types of damage are injuries to living beings due to step and touch voltage; physical damage (fire, explosion and mechanical destruction) due to lightning current effects; and failure of internal systems due to lightning electromagnetic impulse (LEMP). Therefore, the application of lightning protection measures is essential. The need for protection, the economic benefits of installing protection measures and the selection of adequate protection measures should be determined in terms of risk management.
A lightning protection system designed and installed to the latest British standard (BS EN 62305) reduces the risk of damage to a structure and the systems and people within it.
Lightning protection services offered by BFL Projects include:
Site survey
Design, including recommendations for lightning surge protection
Material supply, including surge protection devices
Installation
Testing
Maintenance
Fall protection systems
Full lightning protection systems for buildings and other structures, together with surge protection for their contents, can be designed and installed by BFL Projects to divert high levels of electrical current generated by lightning strikes. Their purpose is to carry the current safely to earth and ensure the continued functioning of equipment, the protection of the building or structure, and the safety of the people inside. Lightning protection systems are designed for high frequency applications with lightning current peaking over a very short time. BFL Projects sophisticated protection systems meet all the relevant standards and are installed by our own fully trained and accredited people.

Lightning Surge Protection
Lightning Surge protection benefits from technological innovation which increasingly places electrical and electronic equipment at the heart of our everyday lives. From satellite communications and sophisticated computer technology to power generation from environmentally sustainable sources, modern electrical and electronic systems are a fundamental part of today's business activities, yet these critical systems are at risk from the multiple daily occurrences of transient over-voltage.
Surge Protection under SANS
SANS requires that surge protection must be included as part of a lightning protection system, to safeguard the building, and the people and equipment within it, from the damaging effects of transient over-voltages.
Surge Protection
For outstanding protection against transient over-voltages, BFL Projects can supply all your surge protection requirements, sourced directly from leading manufacturers. SPDs from DEHN provide a cost-effective and best-engineered solution to ensure compliance with German & European standards. Being virtually maintenance-free, and with repeated protection built-in as standard, SPDs from DEHN offer the best means of achieving long-lasting, cost-effective protection against transient over-voltages.
Surge protection devices (SPDs) are divided into two basic types such as Lightning Current SPDs and Transient Over-Voltage SPDs, and each performs a critical function.
